On 8 November, our Foundation ambassador, María Fernández, took part in the conference ‘El futur existeix’ (The future exists), organised by the Villavecchia Foundation at Casa SEAT in Barcelona.
A deeply inspiring event that brought together young people who have overcome childhood cancer to share, from their experience and emotion, what it is like to live after cancer.
During the meeting, reflections emerged that invite us to look beyond diagnosis and medical treatment. The young people courageously expressed their needs, challenges and dreams for the future, reminding us of the importance of also accompanying the emotional process that follows illness:
- To feel part of the world again, to regain confidence and to rebuild one's identity beyond the role of ‘patient.’
- Receiving emotional support beyond the hospital, because physical healing does not always mean emotional well-being.
- Having spaces where you can share experiences with other young people who have been through the same, finding understanding and strength in community
These voices reaffirm our purpose: to continue driving projects that place emotions, resilience and life at their heart. Because accompanying is not just about healing, but also about helping to rebuild and shine again.
