Screens and dependence
Ban or regulate the use of screens at school? Are our children digital orphans? What happens to their brains when they spend so many hours using a cell phone, tablet or computer? Are we encouraging enough critical thinking in children? We asked the experts.
We look for answers to this issue that worries us families so much and that is also posing many challenges at school: the use of screens by children and adolescents. We share a discussion with the neuroeducator David Bueno, the professor expert in emotional intelligence Rafel Bisquerra, and the researcher and emotional educator Cristina Gutiérrez. With the three of them we reflect on what happens to the brain when we expose it for a long time to a screen. Why do our children often react violently when we tell them to stop? How is it already affecting their language? What do we mean by dependency? And they offer us alternatives and resources to work both at home and in the classroom.
